The way that Mackenzie was able to navigate through such an emotional situation with such confidence and ease is truly inspiring.
My 14-year-old brother was brought into Hamot after sustaining a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed. A situation that no family is prepared for. Nurses are not taught in school how to handle those types of situations, especially with a kid. The way that Mackenzie was able to navigate through such an emotional situation with such confidence and ease is truly inspiring. She was the best nurse that could have been assigned to take care of G, and we are all forever thankful for that. Not only did she care for G with compassion and comfort, but she made sure to comfort the family as well. She is a natural caregiver who deserves to be recognized for being such an important part of patient’s lives. G remembers Mackenzie and even though her interaction was short, it was meaningful. He would like her to know that “she is awesome and thank you.” My family appreciates you Mackenzie, thank you for everything you do for patients.
