Can we please make Megan the preceptor and model to ALL other charge nurses? Since coming back from FMLA, I’ve probably worked with Megan 3-4 times. Different days, and different circumstances, but Megan goes above and beyond with her responsibility as charge. From huddle (she is organized and does not get bullied around) to all day long. She comes back at least every 4 hours and huddles and doesn’t only ASK what can be done but also pays attention so she actually KNOWS what is going on to allow her to step in and help without hardly even asking. She comes around more than required, huddles, and makes it a point to take the goings on of the unit. She actually comes into SCN, listens, observes, and acts if needed with things we say or what she observes. She is respected and communicates with patients and staff with respect, efficiency, and true ROUNDING. Please copy her for all charge nurses! Today was the ultimate! Early in the shift, with patient issues, assignments had to be changed and without me still knowing the full assignment I had on Mother Baby, Megan, and another nurse took my 3 babies to get circs, not only that but stayed with them, made sure the consents were signed and actually gotten the medications. Then the topper took the time to chart the procedure and other items that needed to be charted.

I realize she did go above and beyond but if the charge nurse could do 75% of what Megan did, that would make our shift so much more efficient and run more smoothly for mother/baby and SCN. Megan has maintained these standards even with triage of her own and I don’t even know what back in labor and delivery.
