Anna Hoang is one of those rare nursing students who immediately gives the impression that she is passionate about patient care and nursing.
Anna was at East Jefferson General Hospital for her Nursing 4369 Nursing Leadership practicum. She was praised by her preceptor for her excellent nursing care. The examples from the preceptor included taking report on a new admission, starting an IV, and calling a physician to advocate for her patient. Her demeanor is very professional. She was observed interacting with the interdisciplinary team on the rehab unit. Anna is deserving of the DAISY Award and recognition

Please consider my nomination for Extraordinary Student Anna Hoang. Anna started her rotation at Ochsner Westbank Free Standing ED. I would arrive at the unit and Anna was always working. At one point she was passing out EKG results. The Charge Nurse explained that Anna often took it upon herself to gather diagnostic results and ensure that every nurse received the results in a timely manner. The charge nurse stated that Anna was the hardest worker they had ever had at the facility. Her preceptor and other staff members jumped in and agreed. She is described as a self-starter, respectful, and very professional. Anna then went to EJGH Rehab, she would text me so excited about the progress of her patients. She helped transfer a COVID patient to ICU, called report using SBAR, and spoke to the physicians. Her preceptor stated that she conducted herself in a way that only an LSU GRAD could! Everyone commented on her professionalism. Then I was walking down the hall at LSU and a faculty member from Foundations stopped me to tell me about Anna. The nurses on the REhab floor at EJGH were telling our faculty how hard-working, dedicated, professional, and caring she was on the unit. They asked our faculty to please have me recognize her. The staff at EJ sent a message thru another faculty member because Anna stood out so positively to everyone on their team. Anna is truly what The DAISY Award is all about - she works hard every day - always to provide the best care for her patients and team members.

Anna Hoang is one of those rare nursing students who immediately gives the impression that she is passionate about patient care and nursing. As her clinical instructor, whenever I looked for Anna, she was either engaged with her primary nurse or engaged with her patient. Anna, in my eyes, was a role model for the other nursing students in the critical care unit. Anna was also vigilant in her patients' care. One day she pointed out a change in her patient's ECG rhythm and brought it to my attention. I encouraged her to notify the patient's physician standing near her. The physician thanked her and immediately changed the patient's medications based on this new rhythm change. Anna not only advocates for her patient, but she also demonstrates our nursing school's core values.
