My adult son has been at Banner Hospital since June  2022. He has been in many wards of the hospital and has been under the care of many different nurses. The one that stands out the most for us is Alyssa Arvizo. When my son first found out that he would need to get chemo, Alyssa was his very first night shift nurse. I have so many good things to say about her. Alyssa greets us at the beginning of every shift with a smile on her face. My son has been at Banner for 8 months and after all that time Alyssa never seems to be bothered by us. I call every night to speak to her for an update and she answers "Hi N!" each time I call. She promptly calls me back if she happens to miss my call. My son has a mental disability and yet Alyssa doesn't treat him like a child. She shows so much compassion for my son and goes above and beyond what is required of her. If I was able to, I would nominate every nurse on the hematology/oncology floor, however, Alyssa stands out as a caring and compassionate person that is above all the rest.
