Rebekah is the most amazing nurse that took care of me at Atrium Lincolnton. While I stayed here, I struggled to get a moment of peace or rest through all the hustle of the day and night. I completely understand everyone has a job to do and it's for my own good each time they come in. However, I struggle with anxiety and need lots of personal space to keep my mind calm. Rebekah is the only staff member who fought for my peace. When I was on the brink of tears from the constant interruptions, she sat down beside me and listened to my concerns. Once I was done, she said she would do her best to advocate for my rest since that is important to healing. She put signs outside the door restricting anyone to come in without calling her first. She even messaged the doctor to ask if they could reschedule vital signs so I could take a nap. She personally brought my dinner tray and asked to make sure I had my uninterrupted nap. When she reported with the next nurse in my room, she apologized for interrupting but wanted to make sure everything she said was accurate. She didn't stop there. She told the night shift nurse how important rest is to me and begged her to please keep interruptions at a minimum. That was the first night I slept decently. The nurses and assistants came in together instead of individually throughout the night. Without Rebekah, I don't know if I would've been allowed to go home the next morning. After that night my heart rate was finally normal after being fast. I really believe rest was what my anxiety and heart needed to get better. Everyone else just said "I'm sorry that's how things are in the hospital." but thank you Rebekah for fighting for me and listening to me.
