She is also the type of leader who inspires me to be a better nurse. She is compassionate and insightful.
I want to start by saying that Liz is one of the most knowledgeable nurses I have ever met. She is also the type of leader who inspires me to be a better nurse. She is compassionate and insightful.

We had a patient from the Middle East who was needing proton therapy in Baltimore for 35 days. It was a daunting proposition to arrange a team to be out of the area for approximately 6 to 8 hours a day. We also had cultural considerations to consider. Liz arranged for us to have consistent team members to go to provide continuity for both the family and the patient. When the hospital inpatient team started with daily huddles to coordinate this child's care, she made sure that I could attend even if she had to cover another call for me.

During the 35 days, we had a record number of patients that were being transported for radiation therapy at another hospital. She often was the nurse on these transports to make sure that all the patients received the care that they deserved.

Even when we have had a new challenges in transport such as Ebola, ECMO, COVID, Adults, and new equipment, Liz made sure that the training and process were the best that they could be. I am proud to call her my manager, I am grateful for her leadership. I am thankful that her example and hard work give us the opportunity to be better providers for the patients at Children's National.
