He reassured me of my concerns by actively listening.
I was admitted to around 9 pm. It was a very long day starting at 5 am in the ER. Christian was my nurse and he exemplifies CARE in what he did for me. He connected with me immediately on a personal level to ensure trust in him and put me at ease with a sense of humor and an awesome “Zelda” scrub.
He was thoughtful of my situation and very thorough in all he did to process me and get me settled. He reassured me of my concerns by actively listening. He made sure his new patient was in a good place after a long day and that meant going the extra mile to do the things maybe a CNA would be assigned to do.
He took ownership of my care point blank. He is the kindest and gentlest nurse I’ve ever had. I hope other RN students shadow him in their clinical rotations. They would be learning from the best by treating patients with dignity and a dose of humor.
Christian did a double shift that night. He gave me meds at 6 am and his demeanor remained the same as it was in the previous night. Still attentive, treated me like a person, and not showing any fatigue or impatience after his long day too!!
Zelda said it best “A sword wields no strength unless the hand that holds it has courage”.
Thank You, Christian!!!
