We had to make the choice to take away the breathing tube and Julia was there for us every step of the way.
My dad has been in Critical Care after a fall for 11 days now. Julia has been his nurse for the majority of the time. She has gone way out of her way to be there for my sisters, my dad’s fiancée, and me. She has made time to support us. She has been so gentle and kind to my father during his exams. She cares for him as if he was her own father and that means more than anything to us. She treats him like a human, constantly talking to him even though he is in a coma. She explains everything she is doing to him and us. She explains everything in a way we can understand and makes us feel as though we can be an active part of his care.
This was the hardest thing we have ever had to do in our entire life. We had to make the choice to take away the breathing tube and Julia was there for us every step of the way. We could not have asked for a better, more kind, more compassionate nurse. She made us beautiful mementos and checked on us but still gave us all the time and space we need. I cannot even say enough how amazing she was to us. I wish everyone could have Julia if they have to deal with the loss of a loved one. She clearly loves her job, cares greatly for her patients, and has a strong passion for her place of work.
