Over the course of the 7-plus months, I was/am directly involved in my wife’s care. Before coming to Shirley Ryan, she was in acute care hospitals, neuro ICU, LTACH, and nursing homes. I met many nurses and nursing teams. But I never met someone like Daniela. She is empathetic, attentive, caring, and thoughtful. She has every quality the best nurse should have. She encouraged me to be an advocate and voice for my non-verbal wife. She went above and beyond to make sure I feel good about the care my wife is getting. She didn’t wait a single minute to escalate my concerns. Her professional attitude and willingness to go the extra mile to help her patient is beyond what I have experienced in the past. My wife (patient) is also a nursing student. I hope she will recover fully to complete her passion. I will definitely motivate her to be a nurse like Daniela.
