Jonathan was and continues to be our light in a sea of darkness and for that, we’re eternally grateful.
A parent nominated Jonathan, stating: “Our baby boy was born prematurely at 24 weeks. He was rushed to Children’s Hospital of King’s Daughters where he remained for almost four months. During his time in the NICU, we experienced the full gamut of emotions. He would make great strides and then sometimes be hit with several setbacks. Throughout the entire NICU journey, our nurse Jonathan was there to help us cope and navigate through such an emotionally taxing process. When there were certain medical conditions we didn’t understand, he would explain them to us in such a way that we were able to understand them. On the days we would be overwhelmed with grief, he would comfort us and reassure us that he would do everything in his power to give our son the best care. When our son was diagnosed with a terminal illness, Jonathan was there to help us navigate the palliative care process and empowered us to take him home and love on him for as long as he has left. Our baby is still with us. Jonathan was and continues to be our light in a sea of darkness and for that, we’re eternally grateful. To have a nurse go above and beyond the job responsibilities and make you feel like family is so appreciated. We’re extremely blessed to have met Jonathan. CHKD’s NICU has an absolute gem on their staff.”
