When I think of compassion, caring, loving, and devotion, and who exemplifies who is a nurse, I think of Raoul. He embodies not just his job but humanity and is a truly loving human being. He listens and cares. He does not lie and will give you answers only if he knows it. If he does not know he will go, try to find out. My port blew in my upper right arm, chest, and shoulder. I was crying in pain and pushing the panic button. Raoul came in touched my hand and told me I will be all right. He immediately calmed my fears and the fears of my fiancé. What I love and truly enjoy about him is his honesty and compassionate care. I truly believe Raoul is a DAISY Nurse because he embodies and exemplifies what and who a nurse should be. He cares, loves, and has so much integrity when doing this job. He does not complain and is very honest in his work. He saved my life the other day by getting the swelling down and draining the fluid. If it were not for him, I would still be crying and in fear. Hospitals need more caring and knowledgeable nurses like him.

Raoul, I will never forget you because you let me know I am an important patient and most of all a human being. In my eyes, you get a DAISY Award every day because I have yet to meet a finer nurse, friend, and overall human being. I might be leaving this hospital, but you left with a big piece of my heart.
