I’m writing to you because I heard great things about your nurse, Katherine Ogden. One of my patients who I’ve been working with since 2021 did NOT have a good experience at TSH in January 2023. Despite her negative experience, she still told me about how she was treated with kindness and compassion by Katherine Ogden. This patient was hospitalized for c diff in January 2023. She said that when Katherine assumed her care on Saturday, Katherine offered to clean her up and talked to her with compassion and care. This patient has cerebral palsy and tells me she is used to the stares and being treated differently, but when Katherine talked to her, she talked to her like she would any other person. This nurse must be truly amazing, because the rest of this patient’s hospital stay was awful (from what she told me,) yet she STILL REMEMBERS how Katherine treated her. I have a Maya Angelou quote hanging up in my office “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” it sounds like Katherine made this patient feel heard, cared about and worthy.
