Shortly after, Stephanie found out the UMC policy did not allow this donation. After speaking to HR, her admin, and her peers, she decided to attempt to get the policy changed.
Stephanie is a veteran nurse in the Pediatric emergency center and her passion is shown through her work, her friendships, her extracurriculars helping the community, and mostly her compassion for others. Recently she showed this compassion by trying to offer up her PTO using the Service of Compassion program for a co-worker who was about to have a new baby at UMC. This co-worker only had a limited amount of PTO herself and this would mean a shorter maternity leave or take a longer leave without some financial stability. Stephanie knows how important bonding is to a mother’s mental health and wanted to do everything in her power to allow her co-worker as much time as needed. Shortly after, Stephanie found out the UMC policy did not allow this donation. After speaking to HR, her admin, and her peers, she decided to attempt to get the policy changed. An email was written with the help of her co-workers with reasonings and just why the policy should be re-examined. The email was sent to the CEO, and after a short while the policy was changed to allow donation to this coworker. Because of this compassion, dedication, and values that show 'Service is her passion', Stephanie has helped to ensure that this young family has all the time they need to grow together without the stress of financial instability.
