She saw us and stopped and gave us both a hug. She told us her new role and instantly reassured us we weren’t on our own, she also told us his diagnosis and upcoming surgery in simple terms.
Back in November 2018 we first met Michelle as my partner's nurse when he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Michelle was an absolute godsend to both of us then, with her care and support through those first years of his treatment.

Then Last year he was taken really poorly again with his bowel cancer reoccurring. We were both so scared. He was readmitted and awaiting surgery. He was on a feeding tube and because of covid on the ward, he had to drag himself out to come and visit with me in the corridor. We were at the lowest point at the time, so scared and anxious of what was to come. The next thing we saw was Michelle walking down the corridor. She saw us and stopped and gave us both a hug. She told us her new role and instantly reassured us we weren’t on our own, she also told us his diagnosis and upcoming surgery in simple terms. She then supported us both through the next few weeks. Over the course of the last year, Michelle has kept being an amazing support to both him and me as his partner too. She is always at the end of the phone and email. She makes us feel like she genuinely cares about us both. Michelle is the absolute definition of what a nurse should be. She is a true advocate of the profession and we are so grateful to have had her as our nurse and friend these last 4.5 years.
