Steph made my husband comfortable and brought me into the room, letting me be near my husband for the last night I was going to spend with him.
My family and I experienced the worst day of our lives. My husband M was brought to RIH after a freak lawn mower accident, where it was determined he had an unrecoverable brain injury. He was then transferred to the Med ICU 4th floor where Steph took over for the care of my husband.

Steph made my husband comfortable and brought me into the room, letting me be near my husband for the last night I was going to spend with him. She worked efficiently and quickly around me and checked to see if I was comfortable. At 2 am she offered to bring me to the cafeteria and bought me a much-needed coffee. Asked if I had eaten anything when I told her no, she saw to it that I was taken care of as well.

When the doctors had to do a procedure on M, I was asked to step out of the room and when I returned to be with my husband, Steph had a recliner and blankets waiting for me. Steph went above and beyond to care for my husband and me. Even offering my toothpaste and brush and comb so I could freshen up while she freshened him up. Steph went off duty at 7 am then returned that evening for her shift at 7 pm.

She escorted my husband and family to the PACU to extubate and wait for organ donation which unfortunately was unable to occur. We then returned to his room where he died peacefully with his family surrounding him. Steph was so respectful, caring and so comforting. She even knew when I needed a hug.
