I have worked with Erin for two years in PACU, although she has been at SCH for ten years. Erin handles every situation with dignity and grace, and always goes the millionth mile for her patient. She recently had a palliative care patient undergoing surgery. This little babe had severe trauma about anything medical. Knowing this, Erin went out of her way to set the patient and her co-workers up for success. She took the opportunity for her team to accomplish medically traumatizing tasks while the patient was under anesthesia. She advocated hard for this, despite objection. She gathered all the supplies for multiple dressing changes and NG change to give to her OR colleagues. She ensured that this was accomplished in OR and had a backup plan in case it was overlooked. Later, the patient woke up and was toddler livid for a popsicle. While in imaging, she called the neurosurgery NP to ensure that the images were read and that the patient could eat by the time they reached the floor. Erin's attention to detail is incredible and made such a difference in this child's experience. These may appear like small things that she did, but I know they were not small for this family enduring a horrendous event in their lives. It is such a treat to work with Erin in PACU. She is a well-respected and well-liked member of our team. SCH is so lucky to have such an incredible registered nurse. Thank you, Erin.
