During my stay at Sanford Madison was my assigned nurse on several occasions. Madison stood out among all my nurses as someone very extraordinary at her job. Whenever she entered my room, it was with a burst of positive joyful energy that was infectious. She was always fully present and attentive to my needs while being a complete delight to my visiting family members. Madison is a resourceful problem solver, a compassionate listener, and an energetic and efficient implementer. She is an outstanding role model to the nursing students who shadow her. I personally witnessed this impact with one nursing student who was clearly picking up on Madison’s energy and work ethic. In this way, Madison’s impact goes beyond her own patients to all the future patients of the nursing students who have the honor of learning from her. Madison is a DAISY Nurse for her professional excellence, respect, and compassion in interactions, and delivery of extraordinary patient care. There is no one story that exemplifies all of these attributes because it was every part of my entire experience with Madison.
