He not only took care of M physically, but he eased his worries without even knowing.
My husband M was admitted to Silvis campus from a critical access hospital 2hrs away from the Quad Cities. M had a Cardiac Cauterization completed the next day. Andrew was M's Cath Lab nurse. This is where Andrew went above and beyond as a nurse. You see, M has an identical twin brother (MN) that was visiting. If you know how twins can be, they can have twin intuitions or telepathy as we like to joke. When Andrew came to pick up M for his procedure, he was told to be careful, he may be seeing double in the room. Andrew introduced himself, discussed what was going on, and tried to make light of a very scary situation for us all. This helped to put us all at ease, especially M and MN.

After M's procedure, the doctor was talking to us all about what was done, and what to expect. Andrew (without prompting) pointed out to MN and said "Dr., this is M's identical twin brother, he too has type 1 diabetes. What does he need to do?" The doctor then told MN what his next steps need to be. After the conversation MN looked worried, the words from the doctor hit him like bricks. MN stated that he would be taking those words seriously and taking the next steps. The next day, M was very worried about MN. He too was worried that MN may have some of the same problems. So, when M was told of the conversation Andrew started for MN, it completely put M at ease.

Please make sure Andrew knows how much a small conversation means to an entire family. He not only took care of M physically, but he eased his worries without even knowing. Andrew also took care of the family as well. For all we know, he could be saving MN's life.
