Having a colostomy was life-changing. Having a reversal 8 months later was just as cathartic. The entire experience left me full of anxiety, fear, and uncertainty. Brittany was the first medical professional to talk me through tense moments and explain in plain English everything from the meds I was prescribed to what to expect once my system woke up from the anesthesia. She took her time, never rushed me, or told me she had other patients to get to.

Brittany held my hand when needed. She made me feel human again. Brittany checked on me more than for vitals or to give meds. She told me stories to ease my mind and was always positive. She never allowed sadness or depression near me. If I had her during the past 8 months, I would not have needed anxiety medication. What she taught me over my 6-day stay could never be paid back. She was more than a compassionate nurse; she was a beacon of light in a very dark time. If I lived a thousand years, I could not thank her enough. I am a better person because of my time with her.
