She is always willing to listen, finds our talents and puts them to good use, and encourages people to use their strengths. Her expectations are realistic and make me feel truly appreciated, and in a job that is frequently thankless, that is priceless.
As one of Tanya's managers, I appreciate that she is always working hard and putting 120+% into this place. She takes on a lot, and somehow she executes all of her projects and extra responsibilities with grace. I could go on and on about why I appreciate Tanya, however, I think the most important perspective comes from her direct reports on the frontlines. While she is our Director of Nursing, she still takes on the responsibility of a management role for the float pool, clinical coordinators, and CMU. I asked a few of them to send me their perspective on this incredible nurse leader and some comments from them are below:

We have had multiple bosses for our float pool in the last few years and I was delighted when I realized that Tanya was completely engaged with us from day one. She shows interest in all her employees and is our biggest cheerleader. She is so excited when we gain new employees and makes them feel welcome. She genuinely enjoys showing new staff around the hospital and taking on a very active role in onboarding. As our Mama Bear, I know she has our best interests in mind when issues arise. She is so approachable and even gives her cell phone number to staff (including hordes of FEMA staff) to help them feel at home. She is patient and kind and quick with a smile or joke, but one of the best things about Tanya is that she is human and she will show it by admitting when she is wrong (which doesn't happen very often). She is always willing to listen, finds our talents and puts them to good use, and encourages people to use their strengths. Her expectations are realistic and make me feel truly appreciated, and in a job that is frequently thankless, that is priceless.

There are so many reasons why Tanya should be honored. From her work ethic to her personality, Tanya is always going above and beyond, not just for those directly under her supervision but for anyone who may need help. Tanya gives so much of her own time to ensure that everyone is functioning properly and with the resources they need, even if that is just a pick-me-up snack or a good laugh. Tanya has so much on her plate but is always seen with a smile on her face. Even when I can tell that she is overwhelmed she will give 110% of herself. Tanya is truly an embodiment of what it means to be an amazing nurse and an amazing nurse leader. This hospital is truly lucky to have her backing it.

Tanya goes above and beyond to help me help the hospital. When the weight of the hospital sits on our shoulders as clinical coordinators, Tanya comes over and holds it up with us.  It doesn't matter the day or the time, she responds and actively tries to find solutions for us! She supports us and sticks up for us when it seems much of the work world is against us. She even listens to us whine about our woes, at any time! Tanya leads by example and makes a point to solve problems instead of telling us it's not her problem.  She makes an effort to make sure the float pool is included in communications and events when often other leaders have left them out.  She's great!
