Alyssa is someone who has a can-do attitude. She gives excellent care to her patients. She seeks out opportunities to learn. She is always kind and compassionate. During her clinical time in the ED, she made herself available to her patients without prompting. She puts the patient first. Even though the ED is not an area of interest for her, you would not know that by the way she interacts with the staff and patients. She truly wants to understand and be able to support her patients, which leads her to ask the right questions and gather information appropriately. The most important quality that she endures is the compassion that she demonstrates to her patients. She makes sure they know she is there for them and engages in a  “therapeutic manner”. I received compliments from the patients and families regarding her care in which they stated, “She is going to make a wonderful nurse”. It is not too often that I hear those compliments in the ED setting so for that, I want to recognize Alyssa.
