She made a point to also make sure my parents were both being taken care of which meant more to me than what I can put into words.
As a type one diabetic, I have had my fair share of hospital experiences and the staff experiences that come with it. My stay at Medical City Lewisville was one of my favorites, staff-wise, so far. Angie was my nurse for 2 or 3 days during my visit and she was nothing short of amazing. I was experiencing a lot of nausea and vomiting due to my new diagnosis of gastroparesis, and I also had a lot of questions due to this new diagnosis and an extreme allergic reaction the day before I met Angie. Angie was perfect. She was kind, nurturing, patient, everything that I really needed during such an interesting time in my life. She answered every single one of my questions with grace and if she didn't know the answer, she made a point to find out the answer so that she could relay that to me. She was kind and understanding of the fact that I was a terrified 19-year-old with a brand-new diagnosis on top of my diabetes. She kept a constant smile on my face by either sparking conversation, making jokes, or even suggesting the addicting and delicious popsicles that were on my floor. She made a point to also make sure my parents were both being taken care of which meant more to me than what I can put into words.

In previous hospital stays, I have seen my parents prioritize me and oftentimes put themselves and their health on the back burner. Angie made sure my parents were eating and staying hydrated, as well as making sure they had everything they needed to rest or even freshen up. I believe that was the first time I have seen staff make a point to make sure my family was also okay and it brings tears to my eyes even typing about it.

Angie held my hand when I was scared and listened to my stories about previous health traumas, including why I am absolutely terrified of blood work. Instead of making me feel like I was being ridiculous, she stood by me while my blood work was done and reassured me that my feelings were valid and stayed until the blood work was done to make sure I was okay. She was constantly checking on me, not only to see how I was doing physically, but also emotionally, and it made all of the difference. Angie made a huge difference in my stay at Medical City Lewisville on the STU floor and I cannot hardly put into words just how much of an impact that made on myself and my family.
