Many doctors do not relate well to the patient. Katey Mitchell's skill at communicating with the patient may be her most important quality. Katey is empathetic, kind, and patient. She speaks plainly to help us understand what is happening. She is reassuring and gentle even when the news is not good. Katey always responds to questions and concerns, even early in the morning and late into the evening. We feel as though Katey is a friend of the family, not merely a clinician. It is obvious from working with both doctors and other nurses that Katey Mitchell is relied upon for her knowledge. We frequently hear, "I'll ask Katey" or "If Katey said that, it must be so". She is clearly a role model and respected colleague.

Kathleen consistently goes above and beyond for her patients. We have frequently sent questions through the portal during P's chemo treatments and subsequently. Kathleen answers them quickly and is always available. She has helped us navigate the system on many occasions. I have many examples of her dedication to us during chemotherapy treatments but most recently we were in Florida and my husband was having an issue regarding his health. We were not due to follow up until April of this year with a repeat scan. We were previously seen by a doctor who has moved to Florida. We called Kathleen on a Friday when she was not working. She helped us to get in touch with that doctor who is now practicing near our Florida location. She coordinated an appointment with him the next day and we were able to have a scan while we are here. While we are continuing our care in Boston, it is this kind of care that helps us in ways you can't imagine. We didn't lose any time or delay treatment in any way because the team is all working together. She is an example of what an NP should be, She always treats her patients as if they are her top priority. You should be happy to have her on your team! As P states..."she is our guardian angel".
