There are multiple reasons Nancy stands out among our team of nurses. She has an exemplary bedside manner and treats her peers fairly. Families often praise her for the loving care she provides for her patients. The reason I wanted to nominate Nancy is because of her innovative idea that provides patients with culturally sensitive hair products. Over the years many nurses and staff have expressed their frustration with providing hair care for patients with different hair textures. It was Nancy who decided to do something about it. One thing that Nancy possesses is determination. She was adamant to find a solution. From start to finish Nancy knew her goal was to help provide her ‘babies of color’ with ethnic hair products. She created the Hair Love Foundation and this organization has blessed our pediatric patients at DCMC. We are noticing the impact she has on our community and are blessed to have her as an advocate. Please recognize Nancy’s gumption, as she figured out a way to make a difference.
