The pediatric team gained my trust with the most important thing in my life, the well-being of my daughter.
I would like to recognize Catie for her overall care and compassion. There wasn't just one instance that stood out. It was the way she treated us the entire time we were here.

We were admitted to the children's hospital where our daughter was diagnosed with a rare liver disease. Catie was one of three nurses who went above and beyond to help us through our stay and wrap our heads around the diagnosis. She was so supportive and comforting to me and my husband. She took time to talk with us, explain things, and seemed to genuinely care for our situation.

Catie was so great with our daughter. She and Kelly were so nurturing to her. They really took the time to make sure she was comfortable. If she had to have medicine, blood work, or procedures they always took the time to ensure she was calm first. They would rock her, swaddle her, provide sugar water, etc. to make sure she was content. They took the time to do what they needed to do and make sure my daughter was okay, while also working quickly and efficiently so she wasn't uncomfortable longer than she had to be. They always made sure she was content and not crying before leaving.

While all the nurses were friendly and nice, these nurses made me feel like they cared about our daughter's well-being. They weren't in a rush to check off something they needed to do for their shift. We've been readmitted to the hospital and they recognized us right away. Even recognizing my daughter's name before we were admitted to the floor. They checked on us (even after their shift ended) even though we weren't always on their service. It feels like my daughter has caring aunts or friends right here in the hospital looking after her. Being recognized and cared for in that way is one of the main reasons we stayed at UK after our diagnosis. The pediatric team gained my trust with the most important thing in my life, the well-being of my daughter. I can't thank them enough.
