Marsellis made several calls and was able to get permission from the powers that be at Duluth for us to transport my mom in my car.
On our last day at Duluth, we were assigned Marsellis Tubbs as our nurse. While this was our first experience with Marsellis, he quickly became a favorite for us. He is a wonderful healthcare professional, and he interacts with confidence and tenderness, all at the same time. We went through the day with Marsellis, and enjoyed each visit he made to our room. Our morning began with us waiting patiently for our transport to take us back to Glancy, as we had already been discharged. Our assigned time was 3:00, but 3 turned into 4, which was delayed to 6, and on it went. Each time, Marsellis would come in and update us. Finally, at 6:30 pm, he came in to give us the bad news...our transport had been canceled and we would be there another night. We were very disappointed, and my sweet mom burst into tears. This is when Marsellis, took his care and concern to another level. He looked at every option for getting my mother to Glancy that night, and after a few dead ends, he finally found a way. Marsellis made several calls and was able to get permission from the powers that be at Duluth for us to transport my mom in my car. Then, he arranged a "late check-in" at Glancy, He and D loaded my mom in my car and allowed me to drive her down the street to Glancy. While this may not seem like a huge deal, for us it was everything! We were so discouraged and frustrated, and Marsellis went above and beyond to help us, in ways that he didn't have to. After D got my mom all clean, dressed, and ready to go, they both gave her a "spirited" pep talk, encouraging her to work hard and not give up. They were our angels that night, and will forever be precious to our family.

Since that night, we have made a little progress each day. My mom spent two weeks at Glancy, and has been home for two weeks. She continues to get stronger, and we talk often about D and Marsellis. One day, we even received a FaceTime call, from our two heroes, and again, they encouraged my mom and told her how proud they were of her. I cannot express how much these two men have blessed our family, and have made a lasting impression on us.

I feel like we often take the time to express our displeasure or even anger when things don't go as we think they should. I think it is even more important to acknowledge and recognize the healthcare professionals that go above and beyond to take care of their patients. I hope you can read beyond my words, and feel my heartfelt praise and thanks!

You have a strong and amazing team there on the fourth floor, and I commend you for the way that you lead the hardworking, overlooked professionals, under your direction. Thank you for taking the time to read this email, and thank you for the way you and your caregivers made us feel, during our time at Northside Duluth.
