Rasha verbalized this concern several times to other nursing staff in the ED until getting the patient moved to a more appropriate room.
We had a patient come into the Emergency Department via EMS after a significant motor vehicle crash. The patient had a distraction injury of leg pain and no other initial complaints and was triaged to Fast Track. Rasha was the nurse caring for this patient in Fast Track and utilized her nursing assessment skills to identify that there was something not right going on with the patient. Rasha verbalized this concern several times to other nursing staff in the ED until getting the patient moved to a more appropriate room.

The patient had a rapid decline within a short time after Rasha’s recognition of the status change. The patient required intubation and transfer to a higher level of care via helicopter within the hour of crashing. Rasha utilized her nursing knowledge and skills to identify that her patient was declining and advocated consistently until increased acuity care for the patient was obtained. Post-event, Rasha was very concerned about the outcome of the patient and even asked if there was anything she should have done differently. This shows Rasha’s dedication to the nursing field, doing what is best for the patients, and the confidence to advocate for what is best for her patients. She is the perfect example of what great care at White Rock Medical Center is all about.
