Katie is an excellent published educator, scholar, and hard worker! In the classroom, Katie is enthusiastic and helps the learner want to learn. Evidence-based practice is a class that historically has been deemed unnecessary by BSN students. Katie created a dynamic interactive course and students have stated, "I absolutely love this course. It was necessary and interesting!"

Katie volunteers for everything. She is always attentive to the needs of her colleagues and the students. I have heard Katie say, almost weekly, "The students' evaluations said they needed......so I think I will provide this by .......". You can put in your own words to make that sentence make sense. Katie's work as an outstanding teacher has been recognized by many as they read her publications about how to effectively teach for success. Graduate students have cited her publications while writing their scholarly papers.

Katie is caring to everyone she meets. She is patient with students as they seek to learn and teaches with respect and integrity. I have seen her bring students off a ledge as she calmly helps them understand difficult concepts. She deserves this award!
