Her calm, kind, and reassuring demeanor immediately put him at ease and her unfailing willingness to respond to his frequent needs and concerns in a loving manner was a key to W’s recovery.
My 84-year-old father, was in worsening congestive heart failure 9 years after an aortic valve replacement which required another valve replacement. He was extremely anxious about his TAVR procedure which went very well. Rodica, “Ro”, was his nurse for two days in the SICU and was truly an angel. Her calm, kind, and reassuring demeanor immediately put him at ease and her unfailing willingness to respond to his frequent needs and concerns in a loving manner was a key to W’s recovery. Ro had her hands full with our family too, as I am a physician and my mother is a nurse practitioner. Ro was so kind and thoughtful toward all of us and patient with our questions. I was shocked to learn that Ro had left a career in business during COVID to care for people and pursue a new career as a nurse. What a beautiful story and testament to a special person entering medicine for the right reasons … because she cares about people. Ro was an ideal representation of a “nurse” and brought credit to the floor, the department, and Mt Sinai Hospital. Thank you so much Ro for loving and caring for my father for two days after surgery - you are a great nurse.
