She is a role model for our new transport team members, is proactive in providing care to our patient population, and carries a “Yes I can” attitude wherever she goes.
Jessica always puts the babies on our unit first. Jessica was called at 2 am when she was not even scheduled on transport call, and she was asked to pick up a very critical 27-weeker. Jessica agreed to go without hesitation! Without nurses like Jessica, our unit would not be as great as it is. The transport was also on Thanksgiving night.

Jessica has been an integral part of our Neonatal Transport Team for many years. Beyond her normal call expectations, she consistently steps in when a secondary transport nurse is needed. Our most recent example was the evening of Thanksgiving. Jessica was not on call but when called to see if she could help with a transport from Montrose for a critically ill premature baby, she did not hesitate, but got up and immediately came in. If Jessica had not come in we would have not been able to complete this transport and we would have left a critically ill patient with a facility that is not able to support that patient’s needs until another transport team could make it to them. Beyond her consistency of stepping up when needed, Jessica is an advocate for our transport team, consistently steps up to help with education, and advocates for additional education. She is a role model for our new transport team members, is proactive in providing care to our patient population, and carries a “Yes I can” attitude wherever she goes.

Jessica regularly goes above and beyond in her efforts for the NICU Transport team. This time she truly helped offer a miracle to a family in need. When called at 2 am, on Thanksgiving night, she kindly offered to go on a transport. She came in knowing this was an extremely critical transport and it would be a timely outing. It was a hard emotional situation and took a lot of skill base to help with stabilization. Time and time again Jessica picks up call and goes when no one else can on these transports. As a unit/transport team/hospital, we are blessed to have her.
