Kendra has been part of Neuro’s leadership for the past few years and now she is the manager. She is unlike any floor manager I’ve ever seen. She always advocates for her staff and the staff of this entire organization. Her heart drives her brain, and she always makes the best decision for the patients here. This Christmas, staffing was short everywhere. Staff was spread thin. Kendra took over as manager on call the next day. She worked closely with the supervisor to make plans for staffing.  There were not enough staff to go around, so Kendra came in at 3 am to help do the bed board and make the staffing plan. Kendra was assigned to open the 8th floor as a med/surg overflow unit. She began cleaning, organizing, and planning immediately. That task was ultimately taken off her shoulders, but Kendra didn’t just wash her hands of it. She still helped with scheduling, hiring, and all of the things. Kendra reached out to senior leadership for traveler help for our service line.  She gathered all of the information and presented it to advocate for all of St. Mary’s patients and staff. Kendra can be seen on the floor helping staff, answering call lights, and keeping morale high. When I think “Extraordinary Leader”, I think Kendra.
