I had the opportunity to work with Amber Palmer, Accel nursing student in January 2023 during A313 and lab. Amber cares deeply for patients and emulates our CON values. She brings a positive can-do attitude and energy that motivates others around her. During our time together Amber willingly approached patient care and has a strong attention to detail. She identified a patient allergy and medication interaction to which we addressed with the MD. The PCP stated, “Wow - great catch, as she’s been hospitalized for weeks.” She advocates for patients and follows the standard of care consistently. Amber also led her cohort by organizing a pre-graduation ceremony as other members due to Covid were not afforded a graduation from their first degree completion. She went as far as arranging Zoom meeting for faculty and family to join the celebration, made certificates of appreciation for all students outlining strengths, and made a cake for the entire cohort to enjoy at the conclusion of boot camp.
