For the past eight weeks, I have been completely reliant on the wonderful nurses on 10 North to deliver not only my medical care but also my personal care. I wish I could nominate every nurse on this ward but I do need to make a special nomination for Soonamma. I will never forget her or be able to thank her enough for the respect, dignity, and compassion she showed me when giving me my first bed bath or holding my hand while I was crying because I was missing my son's 14th birthday as I was in hospital. As an independent 41-year-old, it has at times been soul-destroying to not be able to care for myself, but Soonamma made every awkward situation bearable with her calm and caring manner. I have laughed and cried with Soonamma, she is professional but exudes kindness and compassion. She is a credit to the NHS. Thank you Soonamma.
