Sam is so compassionate, smart, and is always willing to help. He has personally taken care of my mother and father. He treated them like they were his own family. My mom is very sick and she is very hard on nurses (she expects a lot of them) and Sam was the first and only nurse that treated her to the high standards she holds nurses to. He treated her with respect, dignity, advocacy, and such care that it meant so much to her. She would nominate him if she could, so I am being her voice. Also, Sam has personally touched my heart as well as a fellow co-worker. One day that he was off he personally came in with Starbucks for the ED, paid for out of his own pocket, because he knew we were having a rough day. Another day he reached out to me personally to make sure that I was ok after a really intense high acuity patient day that I had. Also, another day that he was on his lunch break from an education day, not even working on the unit that day, he helped me get a patient that was really sick cleaned him up of incontinence for me, without being asked, and he was so humble and kind while doing it. Sam is the best example of a compassionate nurse and display of exemplary teamwork. I find him truly inspiring!
