I was admitted to mom/baby as an antepartum mom unexpectedly in December. When I was transferred to mom/baby Sara was my nurse. I remembered her from 3 years ago. She wasn’t a person to forget. Sara was my nurse also when I gave birth to my 3-year-old girl and was amazing. With my admission she was my nurse from day one and many times throughout my stay all the way through to my delivery day. She was the nurse who advocated for my two girls to be able to visit me while I was in the hospital. I was really struggling with being apart from my family, I had never been separated from my toddler before. Having my girls visit every day kept me strong and sane. I am so grateful for that. Sara was amazing at bedside and taking care of my baby and me. She was always in before it was time, she made sure I was comfortable, and before my strip was even making alarms go off, she was coming in the door. That let me know that she was always watching us closely outside as well as making sure we were stable.

Sara is an exceptional nurse and there is no doubt about it. Sara, throughout my stay, caught my baby having decelerations many times and got all the right protocols and transfers in place. More than that though, each scary moment of being transferred between labor and delivery a few times, she hugged me and comforted me. She let me know that we are safe and going to be okay. She spent time at my bedside talking to me and learning our story. Sara always greeted me with a smile and on my worse days, sat next to me and chatted with me to uplift my spirits. She was there from the beginning until the end all the way until my delivery and post-op. The last two days were nerve-wracking and scary. When she came in the next morning from our last shift together the day prior. We both just knew something was going on. Sara stayed by my side that entire morning. We literally watched the decelerations together; she called the doctors. She refused to leave my side, but still got the doctors in and watched me and the monitors. The doctor came in and said it was time for baby to come out. She had called it and knew. She was so attentive, and we brought my baby into the world just in time.

I can’t say in words how amazing she is as a nurse and a person. She kept me strong and helped us through it all. Then she took me to meet my sweet boy!
