Luke was instrumental in getting me a self-adjusting bed that immediately brought comfort to my joints that were wrecked by scleroderma and muscle soreness from polymyositis.
As a police officer, who served the public eye for little more than 20 years, I’ve come to understand the devotion, patience, and love of a career that it had taken me to navigate successfully in my pursuit to help people I had met in my life. Being able to trust someone became a big challenge for me. However here I am writing you as I lay here in a hospital bed on the 6th floor of Banner Thunderbird fighting for my life against scleroderma and polymyositis. To tell you about a young man honoring his all to serve as an RN, Luke was quick to gain my trust through his professional introduction to his knowledge and promptness of my much-needed medications.
Luke was the only nurse who took the time to read me the test results daily and explained the blood results of my kidney function. His bedside manners were nothing but personal and polite and lowered my guard as I felt at ease when he would suggest things to ease my discomfort in bed. Luke was instrumental in getting me a self-adjusting bed that immediately brought comfort to my joints that were wrecked by scleroderma and muscle soreness from polymyositis. His calm demeanor is an excellent approach to patients who suffer from anxiety in a medical situation such as mine. Luke would multitask by asking me questions about my life while being able to explain and adjust the medications I needed. His genuine concern for my well-being is a perfect example of who should be honored with the DAISY Award.
