Julie spent the better part of her day coordinating with this animal shelter to make sure the patient's animals were able to be safely placed, so the patient could then focus on his health and care.
Julie had a patient that lived alone with their two dogs with no family support. They came into the hospital and was admitted but was very concerned about his dogs, as they had no one to check on them. The patient was going to leave the hospital to go back home to the dogs since they had no one to care for the pets. Julie found a resource for an animal shelter that provides emergency temporary foster placement. Julie spent the better part of her day coordinating with this animal shelter to make sure the patient's animals were able to be safely placed, so the patient could then focus on his health and care.

Julie was able to work with remote family members to coordinate someone to pick up the dogs and bring them to the animal shelter. A few days later, the animal shelter emailed Julie pictures of the dogs on a walk and doing well and asked that they be shared with the patient. Julie printed the pictures out in color and was given frames to put the pictures in. These were given to the patient and the patient was so happy to see that his animals were safe and they could continue to focus on their health and care. Julie went above and beyond to help this patient, so they could focus on their health and eventually be reunited with their pets.
