Voltaire immediately recognized exsanguinating hemorrhage after an arterial procedure and applied effective direct pressure.
Voltaire was taking care of a patient who had recently had an IR procedure on their groin. The patient's wound, 4 hours post-op, opened with arterial hemorrhage. Voltaire immediately recognized exsanguinating hemorrhage after an arterial procedure and applied effective direct pressure. When I presented to the room as the resident on call, he had the situation completely under control. After 20 minutes of pressure, the bleeding was controlled. Voltaire quickly and effectively identified a life-threatening hemorrhage, applied appropriate medical knowledge and technique, and saved the patient from exsanguination. He demonstrated excellent awareness, clinical knowledge, and composure in a difficult situation leading to excellent patient care.
