I was a patient on the 5th floor Ortho and Joint wing after having minimally invasive surgery at L2-L3. S introduced me to Kristina during the shift change. Kristina was warm and friendly. She informed me that she would be back shortly to assess my day thus far. Kristina wanted to know how I was feeling overall, had I walked, had I eaten, my current pain level, and if I had any questions for her. She told me when I was due next for pain medication. She listened to my lungs and introduced the spirometer. She recommended that I use it during each TV commercial break.

Kristina introduced me to T who was the PCA. Kristina paid attention to details such as my pain level and if I needed medication. She made certain I was moved from the bed to the recliner. She was personable and extremely professional. She didn't see me as just another patient. She made me feel very much at ease. I could tell 100% Kristina loves her job, the responsibilities as an RN, and seeing the patient back on their feet again.

Kristina was my discharge nurse. She went over all areas of the discharge. She went over my medications and when to begin what at home, when I could bathe and remove the dressing, and when to schedule my follow-up appointment. Kristina informed me to watch for swelling, redness, discharge, weakness, etc. If any, go to the ER. I was reminded not to bend, lift or twist. She wanted to make certain I had help at home and proper medical equipment such as a walker and a cane. Kristina's professionalism was apparent throughout my hospital stay at Riverview. I thank her for taking such excellent care of me.
