Micah remained calm, assessed the infant and her nurse instinct took over.
A critically ill 5-week-old infant was carried into the Northside lobby by her parents, upon initial assessment the baby was noted to be pale and cyanotic. The baby was immediately placed in an ER room, while she is not a new nurse, she will self-profess to a lack of neonate experience, yet no one in that room would have ever known. Micah remained calm, assessed the infant and her nurse instinct took over. She began to get IV access, she placed the baby on oxygen, and wrapped her in warm blankets. She never left the baby and provided safe and confident nursing care until the flight crew departed. While her primary focus was her patient she never forgot or neglected the parents. She kept them informed and up to date throughout the process.
