The whole time she was helping my daughter, she kept the mood calm and was able to reduce a lot of my anxiety and keep me from getting overly emotional about our ER visit.
Recently I had to bring my four-year-old daughter to the ER in the middle of the night. She had a seizure back in December and with her now being at risk for more, we have had to be hyper-aware of what is going to with her. So, when we had to bring her in recently, I was already full of anxiety. That night, she woke up screaming and crying, and saying she felt like she was going to puke. She was hardly moving and seemed out of it. These were all the same symptoms we saw when she had her first seizure. I loaded her up and left our house in Boscobel and drove her to GRHC. This nurse took us back and instantly she went to work, checking my daughter over, all the while asking if I was okay, and making sure to make my daughter comfortable with her. My daughter is not a child that warms up to people fast, if at all, but this nurse made herself familiar to her and quick. My daughter puked on her blankie on our way back to the room and this nurse made sure to get her a fresh, warm one, and also did a quick clean on her blankie from home as well. The whole time she was helping my daughter, she kept the mood calm and was able to reduce a lot of my anxiety and keep me from getting overly emotional about our ER visit.
Now when we visit the hospital, or talk about it, my daughter will sometimes as if “her nurse” is working. I also work at GRHC and every time I work when this nurse is working, she will check on me throughout our shift, and make conversation. She is always great about working with our department, and if there is something that we forgot or have missed, she has educated us on how to do it better the next time it comes up. With this, she has always been so pleasant about it. She is an awesome nurse with a great attitude toward both patients and staff, no matter the time of day or night.
