Nelly is the true meaning of human kindness.
I had the pleasure of meeting Nelly when she helped out in our department in 2021 during an increase in staff illness calls. Nelly was willing to help in any area that employee health needed her. She was kind to our employees and a pleasure to work with. More recently I had a friend whose loved one needed a test in radiology at St. John's. We knew her loved one had cancer. I saw Nelly in the hall on my way to see the family. I asked Nelly a couple of questions that the family had texted me. Nelly went above and beyond to find out the answers for the family.
I had another friend come to the hospital for a nuclear med test. My friend texted me that they were getting started on the test. Less than 5 minutes later I heard a message on the overhead speaker "rapid response to nuclear med". I knew right away it was my friend. Sitting in my department worried and wondering what had happened. About 45 minutes to an hour later my friend finally texted me that she had passed out and the nicest nurse took care of her. My friend told me that the nurse stayed with her to make sure she was ok and gave her something to drink and eat because she hadn't had anything to eat due to the test. I found out later the nurse was Nelly. I was not surprised at all because Nelly is always so kind and goes above and beyond. Nelly continued to check-in on my friend when she went to Cardiology for more tests and back to nuclear med.
Nelly is the true meaning of human kindness. She is passionate about her job. If she has ever had a bad day at work I have never seen her show it. She always has a smile on her face and is a pleasure to be around her.
