While working with Alana, she has shown the most compassion and care for her patients that I have ever experienced in my time working as a nurse. Recently, Alana had a patient who unfortunately had a fetal demise. Alana exemplified so much compassion by dressing the baby, getting footprints as a keepsake, and finding many other items that would help the parents through the grieving process. After receiving report that day, Alana stayed after the rest of her coworkers left and helped change the ice in the cuddle cot. She then went into the room with the patient, along with family, and explained the process for transporting the baby to the funeral home. The patient and family consistently complimented Alana on the care and compassion that was exhibited during the process. The patient stated, “I couldn’t have done this without her. She was simply amazing”. Alana has proven multiple times that she is a true DAISY Nurse. Thank you, Alana, for being an extraordinary, dedicated, valuable, and very much appreciated nurse.
