She was there for us in one of the hardest times of our life. She was both personal and professional when telling us anything we needed to know.
We felt she was outstanding in the field of nursing. Very knowledgeable, very understanding, kind, compassionate, and certainly goes above and beyond any experience we have ever encountered. She is an asset to St. Francis. When she told my mother, the patient, and us that she would be praying for us, we knew she was sincere and it helped to know she was being cared for by someone like her.
Reed demonstrated empathy to the family, established a connection through her honesty regarding the situation we were faced with and had a very positive disposition even though she was delivering tough news.
Reed Thomas is hands down one of the best nurses a person could ask for. Reed made sure my family and I knew everything about my loved one's care and new diagnosis of cancer. She was there for us in one of the hardest times of our life. She was both personal and professional when telling us anything we needed to know. She was very realistic and was there to comfort not only my grandma (the patient) but the family in the room too. She was very knowledgeable about the situation (cancer) and made us feels as though we were not alone. She spent 1:1 time with us without interruption and not once acted like we were taking too much time. Reed is one of a kind nurse and deserves this award without a doubt.
I believe her compassion and sincerity were way beyond what we ever hoped for.
She was straightforward with the information but made sure she was very professional. She did not try to tell us something she was not certain of. She went above and beyond to make sure the delivered news was clear and the family understood our responsibilities.
Reed can relate to people given any circumstances. She is very honest and open. She respects people's decisions while also giving personal and professional advice. Sometimes people get in a groove and just go to work and go home but I feel as though Reed takes every situation and person seriously, treats each patient with dignity, and is a patient advocate. She isn’t there to just get a paycheck and go home. She came back to check on us even after her shift was over. She put us at ease through her disposition. She pledged to pray for us.
I work with nurses every day and have not come across a nurse quite like Reed. If every nurse would be as caring, insightful, respectful, advocating, loving, and professional, just to name a few, as Reed, no one would be scared or nervous to go to the hospital. Reed is 100% the definition of the SFMC vision statement.
