I love working at Alamance Regional ED and Greg is one of the main reasons.
Greg is a great director, he was the one who took the job when the department needed him the most. When Greg became director, it was at the height of the pandemic. Many of our staff nurses and leadership had either stepped down or left and there was no one to really lead us. Greg took the time and stepped in. He was the one and only choice for us, there were no other options for us, we knew it had to be him. He did not have to do it, but he did. Since then, he has been trying his best to rebuild this department to what it once was one day at a time. The pandemic took a hard hit on our department as I know it did for many other departments. ARMC ED needed Greg. We all knew it would take time, but I want to recognize the effort he has put forward to help the staff and morale in his department.
Greg is a great listener. The number of times I have been in his office to vent are endless and I can confidently say the same about a few of my other coworkers. He is always right there and helps you see both sides to every story. He is a voice of reason in a very fast-paced environment. He is always there to support our needs as much as the upper administration will allow. Greg will stop what he is doing to hear your concern. Greg's door is always open and you may get lucky enough to get a piece of chocolate while you're there too. Greg also has a way of persuading staff. Since the pandemic, our staffing has not been the greatest. When Greg has a staffing need in the department, he has a great way of persuading us. We all have fallen victim. We talk around in the department about being "Greg'd" because he persuaded us in picking up or switching shifts to better the department's staffing. He is always finding ways to better the staffing in the department, it may not always work but the efforts he puts is enough in itself. We do this because we know that he would help us out when we have needs to help fit our schedule.
All and all, one of the main reasons why I did not want to do travel nursing is because I enjoy working under a director like Greg. If I were to leave and go to another department, I doubt I would have a director as great as Greg. I am very proud to work under Greg.
