Jennifer Miller is an exceptional nurse and has grown in her tenure as a healthcare provider at Penrose. I have known her as a CNA and tele tech and she has truly blossomed as a bedside cardiac nurse. Last night, she cared for a patient who had a structural heart procedure and picked up on a potentially
deadly complication using her sharp assessment skills. She alerted her support team and was able to assist the patient to further care in the cath lab which was lifesaving. On top of it all, the patient described to me how Jen stayed by her side and comforted her with the words, “We’ve got you.” The patient felt so safe and knew our team indeed DID have her. She thanked me intensely for the care received by the entire staff, but especially Jen due to her compassionate presence that was above and beyond the call of duty. That is something that is indescribable as a healthcare provider and makes Penrose CVU THE unit that I can depend on for my incredibly sick and at-risk patients.
