The value of a nurse often goes unrecognized and I am so thankful there is a place I can nominate a nurse to be recognized for the amazing care she gave myself and my family. I am a nurse alongside Danielle on the labor and delivery unit. My first birthing experience ended in a c-section. I had a lot of trauma associated with my birth.

Going into my repeat c-section I wanted someone by my side that I knew would not only take care of myself and my newborn baby clinically but also someone that I knew would go above and beyond to make sure I would have a second chance to have a birth that I could walk away feeling good from. Danielle gave me that. She made sure throughout the day that I felt comfortable, safe, and in control. When I lay on the operating table, vulnerable and exposed, Danielle checked in on me multiple times to make sure I felt seen and safe. It’s easy for the room to forget there is a patient with feeling on the table and not just a patient who needs surgery. Her nursing care that day forever changed the way I think about birthing a child. I am so thankful for her and the care I received and I hope she knows how valuable she is to the women she helps walk the journey of welcoming a child into their life.
