Blair has found new and creative ways to approach ongoing challenges while empowering her staff and providers to champion improvements for the benefit of the team, as well as patients.
Blair is a highly adaptive leader, overcoming departmental COVID challenges, staff and provider disruptions, and operational challenges; leading her team to a place of stability that lends itself to frontline-led continuous improvements. Blair has found new and creative ways to approach ongoing challenges while empowering her staff and providers to champion improvements for the benefit of the team, as well as patients. She has taken a shine to available organizational data and leveraging that information and knowledge to facilitate departmental improvement and strategic adjustments. Over the past year, Blair’s leadership and advocacy have led to key deliverables, including:
- Updating provider templates, allowing for improved scheduling, and reduced manual work and appointment vacancies through the utilization of template “blocks” vs. “holds”.
- Stabilization of the department’s walk-in clinic through the transition to a same-day clinic with scheduled appointments, having a direct positive impact on engagement with minimal reduction in volumes.
- Development of Nurse led visits, nurse asthma education protocols (with improved outcomes), and an expected launch of updated rooming standards with a projected positive impact on patient experience, vaccine adherence, and workflow.
- Launched a free library outside of the Plaza Prairie entrance, in partnership with UWCM.
- Launched a free food box program in partnership with Catholic Charities to support SDOH mitigation efforts.
- Recruitment of 3 new providers.
Blair’s resolve and passion for the advocacy and betterment of pediatric outpatient care are unmatched. Her impact expands beyond her clinic, inspiring others to better themselves, with a direct correlation to strong staff retention. Blair is one of the most driven and adaptive leaders that I have had the privilege to work with. She is a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
