I have had the privilege of working with Sherry for the past 4 years. In these 4 years, I have witnessed one of the most skilled nurses provide care to our patients at CMC. When there is a critical ER that comes in the middle of the night, I have peace and comfort getting a call from Sherry, knowing that the patient is already receiving excellent care.

In winter 2022, we had an extremely critical pediatric trauma with 2 children involved. Being the only provider in town, I was focused on stabilizing and treating the more critical patient. Sherry stayed past her 12-hour night shift and attended to the less critical child. Knowing that she was assessing the other patient, I had complete confidence in Sherry’s clinical judgment and was able to focus on the other patient.

Sherry is an advocate for her patients. She speaks with them, educates them, and empowers them to make changes. She is able to act quickly and always performs excellently in high-pressure situations. She is the nurse that I would want in an emergent situation with myself or my family. She is self-critical and is always looking for opportunities to learn and enhance her nursing skills. After years of nursing, she is not complacent. Sherry has come in countless times during patient surges in the ER and hospital to offer a helping hand – whether it is to place a difficult IV or mix medications.

One of the most noticeable characteristics Sherry displays is her work ethic. You will not see Sherry sitting. She is always busy, stocking, cleaning, organizing, and always serving her patients and the Cooperstown Medical Center. The staff and patients at CMC are extremely blessed to work alongside of the most skilled and compassionate nurses.
