SSgt Williamson will overcome any and all barriers to guarantee, "Yes, we can successfully perform the procedure!"
SSgt Brandon Williamson is the most valuable technician for Surgical Services at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Hospital. His meticulous expertise as the NCOIC of OR Supply has been proven time and again by ensuring surgical procedures start without delay or are canceled due to frequent manufacturer back-orders.
In the last week, he acquired a critical supply item from a local hospital, which would have been a "show stopper" for a next-day ENT procedure; Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS). Furthermore, after he identified yet another shortage of a critical item for General Surgery laparoscopic procedures, due to rolling backorder from the manufacturer, he expeditiously researched for a replacement product. In doing so, he coordinated with a local Eth icon representative to appropriate trunk-stock along with an in-service for the providers, so to educate them on the replacement product which did not require new equipment to be installed in the OR, saving the MDG $32K.
Moreover, a short notice Monday 'addon' case was scheduled in the afternoon of the Friday before. He worked his magic to have a special request 'non-stocked' item called a 'Check Point Nerve Stimulator', overnighted to a medical logistician's home, to make sure the item was available and ready for the start of Monday's orthopedic trauma case. Along with the aforementioned, he has scheduled numerous in-services on new equipment for the Surgical Services Flight, such as a new OSI fracture table for complex orthopedic cases and a GYN fluent system that combines two pieces of equipment together. His actions directly save time for the surgical team, while reducing patient surgical time.
To date, he has single-handedly averted 15 delays/cancellations, in direct relation to his sharp critical thinking abilities and a keen awareness of his impact on the surgical mission. SSgt Williamson will overcome any and all barriers to guarantee, "Yes, we can successfully perform the procedure!"
